Atlanta based pianist/composer Bill Anschell is one of the quiet forces in jazz in the South. He is a busy performer, as a leader and sideman. He is also the the creator and producer of JazzSouth, a syndicated radio program currently broadcast on more than 200 stations in five countries. Finally, Anschell is also known nationally for his work as a writer and producer, having written articles for numerous arts periodicals and having published two books.

Since 1992, Anschell has worked extensively with vocalist Nnenna Freelon, serving as her musical director and pianist. In that capacity, Anschell has performed in festivals and concert halls across the U.S. and throughout Europe. Among the group's many touring highlights are appearances at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland, the Nice Festival in France, the Monterrey Jazz Festival in California, and the Kennedy Center in Washington. Their performances have been widely broadcast on radio and television including National Public Radio's "JazzSet," hosted by Branford Marsalis; Radio France; and French national television. "A different note all together" is energetic, mature modern mainstream jazz, with an attractive sprinkling of unusual elements - wailing jazz/rock guitar on a couple of tracks, unusual cover tunes like "Nowhere Man," and a variety of different feels, with influences from Ahmad Jamal to Monk to New Orleans funk.
